Duct Tape SellingDuct Tape Selling
By John Jantsch

In his latest book , Duct Tape Selling: Think Like a Marketer, Sell Like a Superstar, John Jantsch, sales consultant and best-selling author of Duct Tape Marketing, says it’s time to flip the traditional sales and marketing perspective. We’ve long been told that marketers owned the message, while salespeople owned the relationships. But that formula no longer works for today’s savvy consumers. Instead Jantsch advises marketers need to “get better at relationships” and salespeople need to think like marketers.

But this is a book about sales, and Jantsch reserves his best advice for those business owners out hustling every day. Sales is not just about closing the deal, he says, but about learning how to “attract, teach, convert, serve and measure.” Doing all this, Jantsch believes, will help you “develop a brand that stands for trust and expertise.” Since Jantsch has long been a proponent of “people do business with people they know, like and trust,” this transformation is necessary in order for you to successfully sell your products or services.

spinsucks blog

Spin Sucks is the brainchild of Gini Dietrich, the founder and CEO of Arment Dietrich, an integrated marketing and communications firm. Spin Sucks never disappoints. Because she’s been there, done that (as a marketer and an entrepreneur), Dietrich never shies away from sharing her experiences—the good and the bad, the highs and the lows.

Spin Sucks was originally conceived to be for PR professionals (hence the title), but any entrepreneur will find something to learn from, laugh at and beware of. Dietrich is brutally honest, wicked funny and incredibly smart. Spin Sucks reflects all that.
